Virginia “Ginger” Hislop, a 105-year-old woman, has made history by earning her master’s degree from Stanford University, a journey she began over 80 years ago ¹ ² ³ ⁴ ⁵ ⁶.
Hislop started at the Stanford Graduate School of Education in 1936, with the goal of earning a bachelor’s and master’s degree in education ¹ ² ³ ⁵.
However, her plans were interrupted by World War II, when her then-boyfriend George Hislop was called to serve, prompting her to leave school and marry him.
Despite the setback, Hislop remained dedicated to education and went on to serve on school and college boards in Washington State for decades ¹ ³. She also raised a family, including two children, four grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren ¹ ³.
