Gilgit is set to undergo its first-ever sewerage and sanitation project, marking a significant step towards better public health and environmental conservation.

Former chief minister Hafiz Hafeezur Rehman initiated the project in 2015, aiming to address long-standing infrastructure issues. Covering a large area, the project is expected to benefit around 500,000 residents and will be completed by 2025.

Project Director Shafqat Ali assures that the infrastructure is designed to meet the town’s growing needs, including a sewage treatment plant for environmental sustainability.

Despite initial concerns, the project is welcomed by locals eager for cleaner surroundings and improved living conditions.
