Expressing confidence in Team Pakistan’s prospects for the upcoming T20 World Cup in the United States and the West Indies, Pakistan cricket team captain Babar Azam stated his belief that every player would give their all in the tournament.
“Our sole focus is on bringing home the World Cup trophy; each player is committed to achieving victory,” Babar emphasized, recalling the team’s past endeavors and expressing hope for a triumphant return with the trophy.
Speaking to the media at the Gaddafi Stadium, Babar assured that all players were in good health, with Haris Rauf showing improvement. He highlighted the team’s strong combination and comprehensive training.
Addressing questions about Mohammad Haris’ performance in the PSL, Babar noted that the selection was based on the players’ recent performances. With Rizwan, Fakhar, and Saim Ayub excelling in the top order, Mohammad Haris didn’t find a spot there.
Babar clarified that Test match performance can’t be directly compared to T20 cricket, and decisions were made in the team’s best interest.
Regarding preparations for the upcoming tours and the T20 World Cup, Babar reiterated the team’s dedication to delivering top-notch performances and aiming for victory. He emphasized the importance of player fitness during the tours.
Babar mentioned that PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi had motivated them to achieve success in the World Cup.
Regarding Hasan Ali’s selection as a backup, Babar stated that it was a collective decision of the selection committee. Hasan Ali’s experience was a key factor in his inclusion. Babar affirmed that the final playing XI would be tailored according to the match conditions in the tournament.
