In a historic event, Karachi Central Jail hosted Pakistan’s first-ever convocation for inmates, with 248 prisoners graduating from Al-Khidmat IT programs.
The ceremony was attended by Sindh Minister for Jail Ali Hassan Zardari, DIG Naveed Ali Baig, and Sindh IG Prisons Qazi Nazir Ahmed.
The graduates completed vocational courses in information technology, graphic designing, Chinese, and English languages.
During the ceremony, position holders among the inmates were awarded cash prizes of Rs25,000 each along with gifts.
The rehabilitation program was run by Alkhidmat Foundation, which has been conducting computer and language courses for inmates in Karachi’s Central Jail for over a decade.
The event marked a significant step in prison reform, aiming to redefine the future of inmates and equip them with skills to lead a respectable life after their release.
