Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, accompanied by her father and PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif, presided over a crucial meeting aimed at improving transportation infrastructure in the province.

Discussions centered on projects such as an underground train system in Lahore and the implementation of metro bus projects in three Punjab cities.

During the session, the chief minister stressed the importance of careful planning for the Lahore underground train project and requested a comprehensive plan.

Decisions were also made regarding metro bus projects in three cities, with detailed discussions on various transportation aspects, including providing bikes to students.

Nawaz Sharif urged authorities to increase the number of motorbikes available to students and keep monthly installment costs minimal to alleviate financial burdens. He reiterated the government’s commitment to financially supporting students.

As per the directives, 19,000 petrol bikes and 1,000 electric bikes will be offered to students on interest-free monthly installments, with installment amounts less than Rs5,000 for petrol bikes and less than Rs10,000 for e-bikes.

A quota system will ensure equal opportunities, with a 50% allocation for both male and female students in cities and a 70% quota for males and 30% for females in villages.

Plans were also discussed to introduce 27 fully electric buses in Lahore, aligning with eco-friendly transportation initiatives.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz instructed authorities to start accepting applications for the bike scheme before Eid, encouraging widespread participation and ensuring timely distribution to eligible students across Punjab.
