The Sindh government has announced plans to launch Pakistan’s first-ever electric vehicle (EV) taxi service, which will include a special “Pink EV Taxi” service for women.

The initiative, aimed at promoting sustainable and environmentally friendly transportation, will see the Department of Transport operate 200 electric taxis in Karachi, with 50 of them reserved exclusively for women.

The “Pink EV Taxis” will be driven by female drivers and are designed to provide a safe and comfortable travel experience for women in the city.

The service is expected to address the safety concerns and accessibility issues faced by women in Karachi’s public transportation system.

The government has assured that the necessary infrastructure and regulatory framework are being put in place to ensure the smooth implementation of this initiative.

The launch of EV taxis and Pink EV Taxis is a significant step towards sustainable transportation in Pakistan. The service is expected to reduce carbon emissions and noise pollution in Karachi, one of the most polluted cities in Pakistan.

The government’s initiative has been welcomed by transportation experts and is expected to provide a modern, affordable, and eco-friendly transportation option for the public.
