The Sindh government, in a landmark move, auctioned off the most expensive number plate in the province’s history.
The coveted plate, bearing the number “A1,” was sold for a staggering Rs. 10 crore to a businessman named Muzamal Kareem.
This sale marks a significant milestone in the province’s history, with the previous record being held by the number plate “7,” which was sold for Rs. 46 million.
The auction, organized by the Excise and Taxation Department of Sindh, saw participation from numerous bidders vying for the exclusive plate.
The event was held at a local hotel in Karachi, with Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon in attendance. The sale of the number plate is expected to generate significant revenue for the province, which will be utilized for various development projects.
The sale of the “A1” number plate has set a new benchmark in the province’s history, surpassing previous records. This move is expected to encourage other provinces to follow suit, potentially generating substantial revenue for the country.
The auction has also highlighted the growing trend of personalized number plates, which are seen as a status symbol in Pakistan.
