Iftikhar Ahmed, an important player in Pakistan’s middle-order batting lineup, recently spoke about the team’s aspirations for the upcoming T20 World Cup.
He stressed that their main goal is to win the tournament, rather than just focusing on defeating India, who they will face on June 9 in New York.
Iftikhar, who has been a regular member of Pakistan’s T20I squad, will also be part of the team’s upcoming matches in Ireland and England before the World Cup.
During a media interaction, Iftikhar expressed confidence in Pakistan’s ability to triumph in the World Cup. He emphasized that the team’s primary focus is not solely on India or any specific opponent but on lifting the T20 World Cup trophy.
According to him, Pakistan has the talent and potential to achieve this goal, and they are determined not to make any excuses for any shortcomings in the tournament.
Furthermore, Iftikhar praised Babar Azam, acknowledging him as one of the world’s top batsmen due to his ability to adapt to different match situations.
He also addressed criticisms about his own batting, particularly regarding his ability to hit sixes, stating that individual performances matter less compared to the team’s collective effort in securing victory in the World Cup.
